"It’s time for a change in Louisiana’s government! We need new perspectives, new ideas, a new vision, and a new approach to resolving our state's budget crisis. This means we must take the necessary steps to re-evaluate all programs that receive state tax dollars, including those that are written into the law and/or are functioning without oversight, accountability or efficiency. It’s too easy to cut funding to much needed programs because they can conveniently be disposed of.  The idea of cutting funding for higher education and closing or consolidating state colleges should be completely off the table. Our state universities have already been impacted enough due to the condition of our economy. Instead, we should be considering ways to boost enrollment and increase graduation rates by giving our institutions of higher learning the support they so desperately need. We must work collectively and collaboratively across socio-economic and party lines to arrive at the best solution to put Louisiana first and achieve excellence for our future."

PIERCE

Antoine Pierce is a lifelong resident of Baton Rouge.

Since his teen years, he has been a dedicated servant of his community. As one of seven children, Antoine grew up in a lower middle class home filled with love, wholesome Christian values, and an emphasis on the importance of education that as a parent he upholds today. His modest upbringing motivated him to obtain his education from Western International University where he majored in General Studies. His entrepreneurial spirit and desire to give back to his community inspired him to establish Better Boys Initiative, Inc., a nonprofit organization that uses the arts to develop character and bolster self esteem amongst minority and underserved young men throughout Baton Rouge. He maintains that his efforts in our community will instill a sense of pride, self worth, and determination in the youth which he hopes will inspire them to set goals and pursue their dreams.  This work reflects his commitment to the use of innovation and creativity to spur economic growth of our city and state.

Antoine is a musician, actor, writer, and a lover of the arts. Throughout his life and travels, he has had opportunities to meet and converse with diverse groups of people.
